The Dalkeith Historical Society hosted its’ annual Remembrance Day activity Saturday, November 8, at the Dalkeith Library.
Our guest speaker:
Robin Flockton, President of the Glengarry Historical Society gave a talk entitled “Sorry, Christmas leave cancelled”.
Mr. Flockton talked about Canada’s preparations to enter the war-just about everyone at that time believing the war would end at Christmas.
However by Christmas, The soldiers were still in the trenches thus the apt comment “Sorry.Christmas leave cancelled”.
Many thanks to members and visitors for making this event possible!
