  • Remembrance Day in Dalkeith 2014

    The Dalkeith Historical Society hosted its’ annual Remembrance Day activity Saturday, November 8, at the Dalkeith Library.

    Our guest speaker:
    Robin Flockton, President of the Glengarry Historical Society gave a talk entitled “Sorry, Christmas leave cancelled”.
    Mr. Flockton talked about Canada’s preparations to enter the war-just about everyone at that time believing the war would end at Christmas.
    However by Christmas, The soldiers were still in the trenches thus the apt comment “Sorry.Christmas leave cancelled”.

  • Account of the Kitchen Ceildh Event 2014

    The Dalkeith Historical Society hopes you enjoyed the Kitchen Ceildh as much as they did.
    The Scotch River Fiddles, Ashley MacLeod, Kelsey McDonell and Paddy Kelly put on an amazingly entertaining show.
    Thanks to 4-D Catering for the food, Glen Roadhouse for the bar, Tamarack Creek for the printing, The Review & 88.7 for the advertising and SCOTIABANK for MATCHFUNDS.
    And we would like to thank our dear patron: “Thank you so much for taking the time to come! Weren’t the decorations amazing. Even the Mayor of Dalkeith was there.”
